Me and my mom took Sarabi and Malaika to their very first bird event - Sweden Avian Big Meet, 2013, in Stockholm. At first Sarabi was very insecure, clinging firmly to my arm and shoulder, but after about one hour she started to relax, grind her beak and ruffle her feathers. She met a few avian friends, such as Bosse the male Congo African Grey and Doris the yellow fronted amazon. Sarabi also met a hookbill for the very first time, a toucan, and she stared at it like she couldn't believe her eyes or understand what she was seeing. She also took a few flights with varied results (the first flight being very unoriented). Sarabi let a couple of strangers hold and pet her, without trying to bite or act threatening, so I am very proud of her. Of course, there were too many other sights, smells and sounds to focus on and pay attention to and she was on "neutral" grounds, so she wasn't really thinking of "protecting her territory".
